From pancakes to smoothies, hemp is the star superfood in these recipes from Zoe Bingley-Pullin, as seen on The House of Wellness TV show.
Superfood Hemp Fruit Balls
Ingredients
- 6 dried figs, diced, hard stalk removed (organic)
- 1 cup of walnuts
- ½ cup macadamia nuts
- ½ cup brazil nuts
- ½ cup sunflower seeds
- 1 ½ tbsp honey
- ¼ cup Thompson’s Hemp Wholefood Powder chocolate
- ½ cup raspberries or blueberries
- ½ cup hemp seeds
- Water, if needed
Method
Step 1.
Combine everything except the raspberries and the hemp seeds in a food processor until course and slightly sticky.
Step 2.
Take a bit of the dough, place a raspberry/blueberry in the centre, and form into a 2.5cm ball.
Step 3.
Roll the ball in the hemp seeds to coat.

Thompson’s Hemp seeds

Makes approximately 20 balls.
Hemp wholefood smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond milk (or coconut)
- 1 tbsp. Thompson’s Hemp Wholefood Powder unflavoured
- 1 tbsp. virgin coconut oil
- 2 tbsp. Thompson’s Hemp seeds
- Handful baby spinach leaves
- ½ cup frozen banana
- ½ cup frozen pineapple, chopped
Method
Step 1.
Place all ingredients into a food processor or blend and blend until smooth.
Step 2.
Add a dash of water if needed to thin.
Step 3.
When ready, pour into chilled glasses and top with toppings of choice.
Serves 1-2
Hemp banana pancakes
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 1 egg, beaten
- ¼ cup Thompson’s hemp seeds
- ¼ cup Thompson’s wholefood Hemp powder (choc or unflavoured)
- pinch turmeric and cinnamon powder
Method
Step 1.
Mash the banana in a small bowl and then add the egg, hemp seeds and hemp powder.
Step 2.
Add a pinch or both turmeric and cinnamon and mix everything until a smooth batter forms.
Step 3.
In a medium sized pan, heat oil and drop tablespoons of batter into the pan.
Step 4.
Cook the pancakes on each side for 2-3 minutes and flip.
Toppings: coconut yoghurt, mixed berries and Thompson’s chocolate hemp powder.
